kATHERINE ROBINSON
Music Threatre Director & Voice Teacher

A VERY recent transplant from NYC, Katherine is delighted to be joining the Acting Academy for Kids team! A performer, director, and teacher, she brings with her over 20 years of experience teaching in both private and group settings and specializes in working with young artists. Though primarily a voice instructor, she also teaches acting and beginning to intermediate piano. Katherine's educational work began at the age of 12 when she founded the Maple Street Theater Group, a summer camp and training ground for young performers, in MA. Through this group, she taught workshops, directed full length shows, and even developed new plays with her students. After 10 years with the MSTG, Katherine went on to teach and direct for summer camps and performing arts studios across PA, NH, and NY. For the last five years, her teaching has graced the Big Apple, where she wrote, directed, and choreographed original musicals for the Astoria Performing Arts Center's summer program and taught private voice, acting, and piano lessons for the spectacular Random Farms Kids Theater, a group with many alumns on Broadway. Katherine holds a BA in Music Theater Performance from Plymouth State University, in NH, and currently studies with the internationally acclaimed operatic soprano Candace Goetz to continue to further her knowledge and skill base, both as teacher and performer.
Katherine's work in the Voice Studio is grounded in a strong, dual focus on developing healthy technique and on coaching performance. Her broad knowledge of musical theater repertoire also makes her a wonderful resource for help with appropriate song selection. Fun, warm, kind, and enthusiastic, Katherine connects easily with students across the spectrum, intuitively keying in to their needs and goals and adapting her teaching style to best serve each of them. Above all, she is dedicated to helping her students find and celebrate the healthy use of their unique voices and stories.
A working performer, as well as instructor, Katherine has been blessed to tour the country and the world. She has performed with Disney Cruise Line, where she appeared onstage as Snow White, and in the original cast of Villains Tonight! Katherine also toured with Sesame Street Live!, originating the roles of Kay and Oscar in Super Grover: Ready for Action! and with the American Family Theater, where she was seen as the title roles in both Cinderella and The Little Mermaid. Regional credits include work with the Walnut Street Theater, in PA, Reagle Players, in MA, Saxtons River Playhouse, in VT, New Candlelight Theater, in DE, Stage One Productions, in NH, the Philadelphia Gilbert & Sullivan Union, in PA (international competition), and the Rockaway Theater Company, in NYC. Most recently, she has appeared as Hope Cladwell/Urinetown and Lola/Damn Yankees. Other favorite roles include Lucy/You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Ado Annie/Oklahoma!, Julie Jordan/Carousel, the title role in Sylvia, and the Narrator/Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Many thanks to Stephen and his team for bringing me into this wonderful company. Can't wait to "see you on stage!"
