At Acting Academy for Kids, we know that it can be tough to keep kids busy and engaged during the summer months, and our fun-filled theater camp is the perfect solution for kids aged 5 1/2 to 14.

With exciting themes, hands-on activities, experienced instructors, and plenty of opportunities for creativity and performance, our camps give kids something fun to look forward to all summer long. Here’s a closer look at what our program includes and what families can expect.

How Long Is Each Camp?

We offer ten weeks of acting summer camp, from June 8 to August 14. Each week features a different popular musical. Your child can attend just one week or sign up for multiple weeks to enjoy a variety of performances.

Each camp runs from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Students hone their acting technique, dancing skills, and rehearse their parts Monday to Thursday, and we present a musical performance on Friday for family and friends.

Where Are The Camps Located?

We offer three amazing locations for our summer camps in Orange County CA, including Z Playhouse in Mission Viejo, Lyceum Village in Tustin, and the Newport Theatre Arts Center in Newport Beach.

Whether you are searching for Irvine summer camps, Tustin summer camps, Mission Viejo summer camps, Aliso Viejo summer camps, Laguna Niguel summer camps, or perhaps Newport Beach summer camps, we have a location to suit just about every local family.

How Much Does Each Theater Camp Cost?

Each camp week costs $425, with a non-refundable $5.90 registration fee. We do offer a sibling discount of $25. Additionally, tickets for the Friday performances will be $10, and we will send out a link for ticket purchase once camp begins.

Do You Offer Early Dropoff/Late Pickup?

For an additional fee, we offer early drop-off at 8:30 a.m. at our Mission Viejo and Newport Beach locations. Late pickups are not available at our Mission Viejo and Newport locations. Early drop-off is not available at our Lyceum Village location, but Lyceum does offer an after-care option for our campers until 5:30 for an additional cost.

What About Lunch/Snacks?

All campers should bring their own clearly-labeled, brown bag lunch each day, as well as snacks and a water bottle. Please note we are a 100% nut-free facility, so please do not bring any food containing peanuts or tree nuts.

Not only does this mean that your child will be in a secure environment throughout the day, but we also provide a welcoming, accepting environment where kids can just be themselves, have a blast, and make some great new friends.

Second, their day is packed with acting, singing, dancing, and more! They get plenty of exercise, and their minds are fully engaged. We teach them about every aspect of a theater production, including scene work, dancing, all the cool backstage happenings, and even aspects of set design.
Third, we have an amazing, highly qualified staff. Our founder holds a master's degree in education, and our directors and choreographers have many years of experience in local theater.
Lastly, our performing arts camp is open to everyone, ages 5 1/2 to 14. Whether your child is a seasoned performer or has no experience at all, they are welcome, and they will have a blast at our acting camps!

Our 2026 Theater Summer Camp Options

For the 2026 Summer Season, our camp offerings include a unique mix of amazing musical theatre productions, including:

Wicked - Your kids will have a blast belting out hits such as "Popular" and "Defying Gravity" in our kid-friendly version of this Tony award-winning, Oscar-nominated musical. This camp is so popular that we dedicate several weeks just to this musical.

K Pop Demon Hunters - Rock out to some amazing K-Pop tunes from this recent Oscar winner, and help Huntrix save the world from Gwi-Ma, the king of the demons!

Tangled - Oh Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair! This is one of our favorites, with great parts ranging from the title role to Mother Gothel, Flynn Ryder, Vlad, Pascal, Maximus, and more.

The Greatest Showman - This show is packed with amazing parts and fantastic music, including "The Greatest Show," "A Million Dreams," "Rewrite the Stars," and more.

Harry Potter - Something mysterious is happening at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, and whether you are cast as a Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or a Hufflepuff, you'll have a blast and maybe learn a few potions and spells along the way.

Zootopia 2 - Judy Hopps has finally fulfilled her dreams of becoming a police officer, but this bunny has her work cut out for her. Calling all bunnies, gazelles, foxes, lions, and other wildlife for this camp, which is always a favorite.

Additional Summer Theater Programs

We also offer two full musical theater productions during the summer months at our Mission Viejo location – Z Playhouse. For tweens and teens, ages 12-17, we will be featuring an age-appropriate version of the hit Broadway musical (and movie) “Mamma Mia!”

Auditions for this musical will take place on June 10, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Rehearsals will be held every Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The show will take place on Saturday, August 8, with both matinee and evening performances. To learn more about this show, please click here.
For kids ages 6 to 11, we will also be performing an amazing production of “Finding Nemo.” As with “Mamma Mia!”, this is an audition-based musical, but we will accept video submissions only. Callbacks will be held on June 9 from 3:45 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Rehearsals for this show will be every Tuesday (June 16-August 4) from 3:45 to 6 p.m., and the show will take place on Saturday, August 8, with both matinee and evening performances. To learn more, please click here.
