Piano, Guitar & Vocal Instructor
Jerry Wilhoit is a performing musician, composer, and screenwriter, with over 25 years of teaching experience. He teaches voice, piano, guitar and composition, and has recorded and performed in over 25 countries on 4 continents since age 7. His childhood piano teacher was a student of Stravinsky. He has post graduate degrees from Chapman University and UCLA in Choral Conducting, Film Scoring and Music Therapy, and has guest conducted for the Pacific Chorale. He has worked in public schools for nearly 2 decades, including OCHSA and Newport-Mesa USD, and has served as Music Director for countless churches throughout Southern California. Because of his wide range of experience, he is able to identify the learning styles of his students and offer curriculum beyond the traditional methods, therefore including not only rigorous classical training, but additionally or alternatively, jazz studies, pop, musical theater, sacred worship, “by ear,” composition, and how to record and arrange music on PC/Mac based home studios, iPads and similar devices. His teaching gift is to instill a love for creating music within the student so they reach their fullest personal potential. All ages are welcome.
